KMI Co-Director Job Description

As a Co-Director, you will have the unique opportunity to continue cultivating and advancing Kodály Music Education in the Greater Boston Area. This role will allow you to develop innovative programs and professional development opportunities for educators, working closely with the other KMI Director. At KMI, we design impactful learning experiences and promote Kodály education through online and in-person professional development. Building strong relationships with educators and offering personalized support and guidance while overseeing financial management, faculty recruitment, and program logistics are critical aspects of this position. Through outreach, mentorship, and continuous improvement, the Co-Director ensures that Kodály's pedagogy reaches a broader audience, empowering educators to integrate these principles into their classrooms and foster creativity and resilience in their students. Shared responsibilities may include:

  • Advocate and manage academic reporting and accountability to an institution of higher learning.

  • Prepare and oversee budgets, invoices, receipts, and financial reports. Create 1099 forms and coordinate with auditors.

  • Management of faculty contracts, W-9s, security, and documentation.

  • As the Co-Director, you will be a trusted advisor, guiding and supporting our faculty and participants on housing, transportation, and course of study.

  • Oversee registration, handbook updates, student report cards, and grade submissions.

  • Assist with grant applications, DESE provider updates, and on-site administrative tasks.

  • As the Co-Director, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a harmonious environment at KMI. Your ability to facilitate communication with students and faculty, address concerns, and coordinate surveys and certificates will be instrumental in maintaining a positive and productive atmosphere.

As the Co-Director, you will be tasked with problem-solving and ensuring the smooth operation of our programs. Your ability to assist faculty and ensure everything runs seamlessly will be crucial to our success. While KMI operates its primary programming for three weeks in July, these responsibilities will occur throughout the year. The Co-Director will report to the Kodály Music, Inc. Board of Directors in compliance with its status as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization.
